The River Great Ouse at Godmanchester is divided into three channels, one through the Godmanchester Locks to provide navigation to passing boats, another over the weir and sluice gates used to maintain the height, or rather the depth, of water and the final one through the Mill Pond and passed the whafage provided by The Causeway down the long narrow mill race channel that once provided power to Godmanchester Water Mill.
Godmanchester Mill has long since been demolished and the site is now a public car park
